![]() but they could at least stick up for you should you take the issue over the co-manager's head, to the store manager.Įither way, your co-manager really should've just sent you home and excused the absence after seeing for himself that you were half dead. if they're under the co on the Great Walmart Chain of Command then, organizationally, there's nothing they can do for you. this would be a good time to put that theory to the test and see if you garnered favor with any other managers. however, i do remember hearing in the august halls of this very subreddit that apparently some managers consider it a point in your favor if you show up to work while sick and gut it out (although i would imagine this only goes so far, so if you show up to work with Super Ebola Maximum Strength, Now With Double Contagiousness or something they might not be too thrilled). What they'll probably tell you is you should've called out and tried to get the absence excused with a note from your doctor saying you were too pestilent to work. You should absolutely not take your co manager's fucking childish attitude, but unfortunately the only options you have against him are pretty pain-in-the-ass. Hope you feel better and hope it works out. Walmart sucks because yes you can open door someone supposedly without fear of retaliation but we all know it doesn't always work that way. He/she might listen to you then blow it off or they might actually look into it. I don't know your store manager so I don't know how it would go. they can't play favorites and change your assignment just because you ask but if you have the flu and a temp you obviously look sick so it's understandable.įor your co managers childish attitude you could open door it. Whatever, walmart math right? I also don't see any reason why they wouldn't be able to put you in a different dept. I have never run the overnight crew but I never understood how they can assign one person who works an 8 hour shift a 12 hour task and expect it to be done. If they are at all understanding they may excuse it but they do not have to even with the note. It really depends on your manager though. Not saying that's right I'm just saying that's the type of thing I would expect them to throw at you.ĭoctors notes do not excuse absences. Based on your co I would expect them to argue that walmart has a more generous attendance policy than many other companies and you have already called out x times in the last six months. Yes, you were very sick and tried to work through it (props to you for trying to work through that shit). I don't think you could argue any kind of discrimination or lack for the individual. Don't know where you are for points but this should not count as a full one. When your asm and/or co are tracking attendance, three incomplete shifts count as one absence. You left at lunch so it was an incomplete shift and not a full absence. And your co manager sounds like a dick so you don't want to give them any reason to have anything on you. Someone in another comment recommended you stage an injury. Should I take my co manager's fucking childish attitude? Do I have to put in a full 8 hours of something before I can use my sick time? I have 6 hours vacation and 7 hours personal. I hang around until 1st lunch and clock out. He gets fucking pissed, rolls his eyes and sarcastically screams " OKAAAAAY!!!!!!!" and then storms off throwing a box of freight on the ground. I hunt down my co and tell him that I have to leave at lunch. I go to break and decide that I can't make it through a whole night. My head is so effed up I can barely see straight. I'm sweating and hot as hell but when I take my jacket off I'm shivering and cold as shit. So anyway I'm stocking and after the first hour all I want to do is lie down and accept my death. If you tell management that you are sick and they put a large amount of time to get done- could they still hold you accountable? Like could they coach you for productivity? What's the protocol on sick associates? Like why couldn't I stock coffee or cereal or even paper or fucking baby world or apparel? He sent me to stock 2 heavy lifting dpts with a total of 12 hours by myself. I clocked in and told my co that I have the flu and I feel horrible. ![]() I have too many points and so I decided to try and tough it out at work tonight. I'm sick with the flu- been running around 100 degree fever for 24 hours with minor breaks every time I take my next dose of flu medicine.
